Editor's note: The past two days have seen a lot of noise around venture capital firm Sequoia Capital cutting ties with one of its law firms, Algo Legal, after being informed of some “concerning incidents” involving the latter. In an email sent to portfolio companies last week, Sequoia India and Southeast Asia announced this decision. From the email: Sequoia India & SEA came to be informed of concerning incidents involving Algo Legal, a service provider associated with a former senior Sequoia India employee, and related entities. A recently concluded investigation in a portfolio company has also brought concerning details to light regarding such entities. Algo Legal is a legal services firm founded in 2019 by Sandeep Kapoor, who is an old Sequoia India hand and served as its general counsel for nine years before starting up.
