Vikram Mehta to head airline’s board even as it becomes the first to spell out plans to begin operations from the upcoming airport.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, on Wednesday announced that Vikram Singh Mehta has been appointed chairman of its board. Mehta has been a member of the board for three years.
Mehta will succeed Venkatramani Sumantran, who was appointed chairman in 2022 and helped the board navigate the airline’s recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. He is an Indian Administrative Services officer who worked in the service for two years before moving to the corporate sector. Previously, he was the chairman of the Shell group of companies in India and the CEO of Shell Markets and Shell Chemicals, Egypt.
